The village
Sebetov
The village Sebetov is situated in the
north-east part of district Blansko and in the south-west bottom of woody hill Rychvald
(607m). The earthing cover and fund belong to the area Mala Hana, which is the most
fertile part of Blansko´s district. This area is ranked among a place called Boskovicka
brazda.
The village Sebetov was founded according to the legend by princess Eufemie or
Ofka, a wife of Olomouc´s prince Ota I. Dapper. The legend says that when the princess
and her attendance went through our country in her carriage, she admired the beauty of the
woody hills and pastures very much. She commanded them to stop and called her leader of a
retinue Sebestian, who was called Sebesta by everybody. She asked him to build of a courtyard here, which was later named Sebetov. Sebetov
was founded in the end of the 11 century. The oldest historical mention of the village
dates back to 1201. The village was in possession of the monastery Hradisko by Olomouc.
Sebetov also includes a part called Zabrani (allotment holders used to live here) and a
settlement Kapounata, which is situated in down acclivity of a ridge which is called
according to the highest hill Mojetin (608m). At first sight your attention will be drawn
to two turrets. These belong to a frontage of Sebetov´s chateau. The chateau represents a
monumental, renaissance building from the second period of the 16 century. Interier was
tidied in 1614 and rearranged to the pseudorenaissance style in 1880. There is created a
valuable baroque stucco ornamentation. The origin residence of the monastery in Hradisko
was here. Now the chateau is state´s property and isn´t accessible to the public,
because the institute for mentaly handicapped women is situated here.
Baron Moric Kingswarter had it built to the present image in 80 years of the last
century. The chateau is embosomed with park in spread of 2,7ha with 18 conifers and 62
kinds of leafy trees. They were planted in 30 years of the last century. In 1880 the park
was connected with the chateau with the iron arc bridge and very soft native scenery
composition was made. You can find quite few precious trees in the park. The one is Tsga
canadian……. It´s precious form of horn-beam with deeply lobed leaves,
“nahovětvec canadian”, “liliovník tulip-blossomy”, plane maple-leaf, oak
great-focund and cultural form of great-blossomy lime tree with irregular cored leaves.
The chateau´s frontage offers you a view on the village green where earlier a slight
streamlet flowed in its middle. The village green includes two ranks of the rural
farmsteads in close to abreast which are built along a road. This road lead up from the
west to the east and imeddiately, almost right angle (90) it turns to the south on the
east end of the village in front of a gate to the park. The communal office is located
just around this place. There is situated sculpture of Jan Nepomucky in the middle of the
green. It is a very precious work from 1724. The sculpture of Our Lady with crucifix is
situated in front of the chateau.
The historical building represents a chapel of St. Anne from 1842 on the hill over
the village– it is remarkably located and creates a testament of an ancient romanticism.
If you stay on the top of the hill, you can not overlook the local swimming pool, where
also kiosk is built. There is a lonely lodge and the statue of St. Barbora three
kilometres further (the memory from time of the monastery Hradisko) in the east from
Sebetov, on the bank connecting Mojetin and Rychvald, along a road to Pohora and Stepanov.
There used to be placed the courtyard Na kopci instead of this lodge. The former owner of
the dominant Karel Strachwitz named this courtyard Karlsberg. In present the name Karlov is
beeing used. In these places you can come back to a village through the wood Obora. (Deers
were bred in previous time there.) In a sweet valley of the stream Bela, which is a part
of the protecting natural park Rehorkovo Korenecko (20m2) the lonely house Pilka is
situated. Formerly it used to be a manorial water saw, which was displaced to the lower-
on water lying Melkov. North-east of Sebetov, just under the woody hill side of Rychvald
Moric´s Yard is located. (it was named according to the prince Moric Strachwitz). The
remainder of building of manorial malt-house is placed at the south end of a road to
Kninice. Since 1922 noone has been working there. This complex used to be sugar factory,
but from the lack of water this only factory in Mala Hana was closed and it was passed on
production of malt. Following the west road to Vanovice you can come to the single-track
railway, which leads up from Skalice upon Svitava through Boskovice and Velke Opatovice to
Chornice. This route was built after long delay in 1908. The centre of a village life is
situated in a nearess of the crossroad with bus-stop. You can find the schoolhouse, the
post office, the health centre, the cultural house with cinema, an inn and shops: a
glocery, a shop with household´s needs and a shop with textiles.
